Quick answer

Choose where you are playing (in person, video call or texting), a level (sweet, fun or flirty) and where you two are (just talking, dating or together for years), then tap Truth or Dare. There are more than 400 cards. An answered truth is worth 1 point and a finished dare 2, letting the game pick earns a bonus point, and the first to 7 wins. Each player has three passes. Cards do not repeat, and on a video call or over text the game only deals dares you can actually do there.

This is a free truth or dare generator for couples, made for two. Choose where you are playing (same room, video call or over text) and how bold you want it (sweet, fun or flirty), then tap Truth or Dare. It has more than 400 cards, keeps score, gives each of you three passes and does not repeat cards. It is never explicit, there are no ads and you do not need an account.

How does this truth or dare game work?

  1. Add your names. Tap Player 1 or Player 2 at the top. The names are saved on your phone for next time.
  2. Tap where you are on the switch above the cards. How bold, where you two are and the score to play to sit in the settings row under it (tap Change).
  3. Pick where you are. In person allows hugs, slow dances and snacks. Video call only deals dares that work through a camera. Texting turns dares into voice notes, photos and messages.
  4. Pick a level. It starts on Flirty. Sweet is for a cozy night or a new couple, Fun is silly and a bit embarrassing, Flirty is romantic and bold but not explicit.
  5. Pick where you two are. Just talking leaves out cards that assume you are a couple. Together for years adds cards for long-term couples. The game remembers your choice.
  6. Take turns. Tap Truth or Dare, or Let the game pick for a bonus point. An answered truth is worth 1 point and a finished dare 2, so dares pay. Tapped the wrong button? Undo puts the card back. Timed dares have a built-in timer. The first to 7 wins, or set 5, 10 or no limit, and the winner picks a prize.
  7. Pass when you want. Each player gets three passes per game. No explanation needed.

On a keyboard, press T for truth, D for dare and Enter when you are done.

Truth or dare on FaceTime or over text

Most truth or dare lists are written for a party in one room. Half the dares fail on a call ("give your partner a back rub") or over text. Here every dare is tagged with where it works. A few examples:

Tap Play on two phones to send your partner a link. When you both pick the same option, you both get the same card, so you can play on a call without reading cards out loud. For more call games, see our games to play on FaceTime and games to play over the phone.

Flirty truth or dare questions for your boyfriend or girlfriend

The Flirty level is for couples who want a bit of spark without anything explicit. Examples:

All cards work for any couple, whatever your genders. Want questions only? Try our never have I ever questions for couples or the questions to ask your partner.

FAQ

How do you play truth or dare as a couple?

Take turns. The player whose turn it is picks truth or dare. A truth is a question you answer honestly; a dare is a small challenge you do right away. Here an answered truth is worth 1 point and a finished dare 2 (plus 1 if you let the game pick), each of you gets three passes, and the first to 7 wins (you can change the target or play with no limit).

Can we play truth or dare over FaceTime or text?

Yes. Set Where to Video call and the game only deals dares that work through a camera, like a room tour or a 30 second staring contest. Set it to Texting and dares turn into things you can send: a voice note, a photo or a short poem. Tap Play on two phones to give your partner the same cards on their phone.

Is it explicit?

No. The highest level here is Flirty: compliments, kisses on the cheek, slow dances and romantic questions. Nothing is sexual. Set You two to Just talking and the game also leaves out cards that assume you are already a couple, like questions about your first kiss.

Does it work if we are only talking, not dating yet?

Yes. Tap Change in the settings row and pick Just talking. Cards that assume a shared history (our song, our first kiss, how we met) are left out, so a truth or dare over text with a crush never gets awkward. Together for years adds cards for couples who have been together for years.

What if a card is too much?

Tap Pass. Every player has three passes per game, and no one has to explain a pass. If a level feels wrong, switch it at any time and the next card follows the new level.

Can I add my own truths and dares?

Yes. Open Add your own truths and dares, write one per line, and choose Truth or Dare. Your cards are saved on your phone, mixed into the game and sent along when you share a two-phone link.

Where does truth or dare come from?

It is an old game. A version called Questions and Commands is recorded as early as 1712, and later described as a Christmas game where you answered a question or followed a command.
