Couples Quiz: How Well Do You Know Your Partner? (80 Questions)
Quick answer
To play this couples quiz, you both secretly write your own answer to each question, then guess your partner's answer, scoring 1 point per correct guess. Score 90% or more and you're mind readers; under 40% just means there's more to learn. Pick from 80 questions in 6 rounds, from favorites to dreams and fears.

Better on a call: ask it face to face on Cupie.
This couples quiz tests how well you know your partner, and how well they know you. One of you answers a question about yourself in secret, the other guesses, and every correct guess scores 1 point. Below are the rules, 80 questions in 6 rounds, and what your score means. It works as a "how well do you know me" quiz for a boyfriend, girlfriend, husband, wife or any partner, in person or on a video call.
How does the couples quiz work?
You need two people, something to write on (paper or a notes app each), and about 20 to 40 minutes.
- Pick a round. Each round below has 10 to 15 questions. Play one round for a quick game, or 2 or 3 for a full date night.
- Answer about yourself, in secret. For each question, both of you write down your own answer. Don't show it.
- Guess your partner's answer. Next to your own answer, write what you think your partner wrote.
- Reveal one question at a time. Read your guesses out loud, then your partner reveals their real answer.
- Score it. 1 point for each correct guess. You both play at the same time, so you each get your own score.
Quick version: skip the writing. One person asks, the other guesses out loud, and the asker says right or wrong. This is the classic "how well do you know me" quiz, and it's great on a call or in the car.
What are the scoring rules?
- 1 point for each correct guess.
- Close counts if your partner says so. "Pizza" for "pepperoni pizza" is a point. "Italian food" is not. The person whose answer it is makes the call.
- Bonus point (optional): if you get a hard one right that your partner thought you'd miss, they can award an extra point.
- No points for answers changed after the reveal. Write first, then reveal.
Add up your points and compare with the result bands further down. Since rounds have different lengths, the bands use a percentage of the questions you played.

What does your couples quiz score mean?
Work out your percentage: points divided by questions played, times 100. For one 15-question round, every point is worth about 7 percent.
| Score | 15-question round | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| 90 to 100% | 14 to 15 | Mind readers. You pay close attention and it shows. Try the deep round next and see if it holds. |
| 70 to 89% | 11 to 13 | Really in tune. You know each other well. The misses are small, so ask about them anyway. |
| 40 to 69% | 6 to 10 | Still learning. Totally normal, especially for newer couples or the hard rounds. You just found a pile of things to talk about. |
| Under 40% | 0 to 5 | Fresh start. Not a bad sign. It means there is a lot left to discover. Ask more questions this week and play again in a month. |
One note: a low score does not mean a bad relationship. People change, and partners stop asking things they think they already know. That's why playing again later is fun: you get to see what you've learned.
How well do you know me quiz: how to play it as a solo test
Want to test your partner without them answering about you at the same time? Turn it into a "how well do you know me" quiz:
- Pick 10 to 20 questions from the rounds above.
- Write down your own answers first, so you can't change them.
- Send the questions to your partner (or ask them on a call).
- Score 1 point per correct answer and use the same result bands.
- Swap, and let them quiz you with their own picks.
This version is also good for friends and family. Just skip Round 5 and swap in questions about your shared history.
Play the couples quiz on a video call
If you're long distance or just apart tonight, this quiz works well over a call. Each of you writes answers in a notes app, then you reveal them one at a time on camera. Seeing your partner's face when they get one wrong is half the fun.
Cupie, a free video-call app for couples, makes this easier. You call your partner inside the app and play games together, synced on both phones. Cupie has 239 quizzes, including Would You Rather and Who's More Likely To, so you don't have to write questions yourself. There's also a game called Match that shows how well the two of you match.
How it works: you both download Cupie, one of you shares a private PIN, the other enters it, and you're linked. Tap to call, then pick a quiz. New games open up as your daily streak grows. It is free on iPhone (iOS 15+) and Android, and as of October 2026 it has 4.8 stars on the App Store. The honest limits: you both need the app, and it's built for video calls, so there's no text chat yet.
"I absolutely love this app. The quizzes are great to get to learn your partner more and there's so much built it. I think it's perfect for long distance couples looking to build that connection." (MarieJordan00, App Store)
Tips to make the couples quiz more fun
- Play for something small. The loser picks the next movie, makes breakfast or plans the next date.
- Ask "why?" after a wrong answer. The story behind a miss is often better than the answer.
- Don't keep score on feelings. If your partner forgot your favorite color, laugh. If they forgot your biggest fear, talk.
- Write your own round. Ten questions only the two of you would get, about inside jokes and shared trips.
- Replay in six months. Your score should go up. If not, you have a reason for another date night.
More games to play after the quiz
Once you've finished, try something deeper or sillier. The 36 questions to fall in love are made to bring you closer in under an hour. The 21 questions game is good for car rides and calls. Take the love language quiz together to learn how you each like to be loved. And for a whole evening of ideas, see our date night games.
FAQ
How do you play a how well do you know me quiz?
Write down your own answers to 10 to 20 questions about yourself, then ask your partner to guess each one. Give 1 point per correct answer and compare the total with the result bands. Then swap roles.
What is a good score on a couples quiz?
On this quiz, 70% or more means you're really in tune and 90% or more means you're mind readers. Scores under 40% are common for newer couples and deep rounds, and they just mean you have more to talk about.
What questions should be on a couples quiz?
Mix easy favorites (food, movies, songs) with questions about their past, daily habits, dreams and fears, and your relationship. Questions with one clear answer are easiest to score.
Can you do a couples quiz long distance?
Yes. Write your answers in a notes app, then reveal them one by one on a video call. Apps like Cupie have built-in quizzes you can play together live on a call.
Does a low couples quiz score mean we're not compatible?
No. It measures how much you know about each other right now, not how well you fit. People change over time, so a low score is a reason to ask more questions.
