Sleep Call Kit for Couples

A sleep call is when you stay on a call with someone until you both fall asleep. This free kit makes it easier: pick soft rain, a fan, ocean or brown noise, set it to fade out after 15 to 90 minutes, and switch to a black night screen. Before you drift off, Wind down gives you five calm questions for tonight. Tap Send link to partner and your partner's sound fades at the same moment, in their own time zone.

How does the sleep call kit work?

1. Sounds. Tap play. The sound is made by your browser on your phone, so nothing downloads. Pick rain, ocean, fan, brown, pink or white noise, or mix two, like rain and fan.
2. Fade out. Choose 15, 30, 60 or 90 minutes, or Off. The volume holds, then fades slowly over the last few minutes, so it does not cut off and wake you.
3. Screen and night screen. By default your screen can lock while the sound plays, which saves battery. If your phone stops the sound when it locks, pick Stay on: the page keeps the screen awake, and the night screen turns it black with a very dim clock that slowly moves. Tap to show the buttons.
4. Wind down. Five calm questions, then a goodnight line. The set changes every day, and a shared link gives you both the same five.
5. Our rules. Tick the rules you both agree on, like who hangs up and when mute is fine, then send them to each other.

How do you do a sleep call?

• Pick the app that holds best overnight. FaceTime audio, WhatsApp, Discord voice and a normal phone call all work. If one of you has Android, skip FaceTime: joining it from a browser link is less reliable for a whole night.
• Talk first, then go quiet. Use the wind down questions or a calm game from our FaceTime picker with the mood set to Sleepy.
• Camera off, phone charging. Voice is enough once the lights are out.
• Agree on the rules. Who hangs up, mute if one of you snores, and skipping a night is fine. Our long distance tips cover the bigger picture.

Sleep call on Discord

On Discord, couples often make a small private server and leave a voice channel running at night. Three things make it work with this kit:

1. Decide who hears the sound. If only you need it, play it on the device you sleep next to, not through your mic.
2. If you both want to hear it, each open the link from Send link to partner on your own phone. Both sounds then fade at the same moment, and Discord carries only your voices.
3. Noise suppression filters steady sound. Discord's noise suppression, in the Voice and Video settings, is built to remove background noise, so rain played near your mic may be cut out. That is fine if you each play it locally.

What are the limits?

• We have not tested every phone during a live call. Some phones pause or lower sound from a browser tab during a call or when the screen locks, and iPhones before iOS 17 stop it on lock. If yours does, pick Stay on and keep the night screen open, play the sound on a laptop or tablet, or use the built in Background Sounds on iPhone.
• The kit cannot end your call or control FaceTime. The timer only fades the sound on this page.
• We do not give battery numbers because we have not measured them. What we know: the screen uses the most, then video. Let the screen lock, camera off, plug in.
• Your checklist ticks and settings stay in this browser only. The shared link holds the fade out time and tonight's question set, nothing else.
